Privacy
Shutterkit apps work on your Mac. Your photos, videos and cards are never uploaded anywhere, with one optional exception you control: Ask an AI in Shutterkit Cull. The apps contain no analytics or advertising code.
What the apps send
- License checks. When you activate a license, and about once a week after that, the app sends your license key, your Mac's name and an anonymous Mac identifier to Polar, our payment provider, to confirm the key is valid. The identifier is a scrambled (hashed) form of your Mac's hardware ID that ties an activation to one Mac; the hardware ID itself never leaves your Mac. Your Mac's name appears in your Polar customer portal so you can tell your activations apart.
- Update checks. The app asks shutterkit.app whether a newer version exists. That request includes the app's name and version.
- Ask an AI (Shutterkit Cull, optional). Off until you add your own API key from Anthropic, OpenAI or xAI; no key or account comes with Cull. When you ask, Cull sends small previews (about 768 pixels wide) of the photos you choose, numbered rather than named, and your request, straight from your Mac to that company using your key. Nothing passes through Farspeak Labs. That company's own privacy terms apply to what it receives, and it bills your account. Your original files are never sent. Your key is kept in your Mac's Keychain.
Nothing else leaves your Mac.
Purchases
Polar is the seller of record and handles payment, tax, receipts and license keys. They receive the details you enter at checkout. Farspeak Labs can see your name, email address and order details so we can help with your license and support requests. We don't sell or share them, and we only email you about your purchase unless you ask to hear about new releases.
This website
shutterkit.app sets no cookies and runs no trackers. Our host keeps standard server logs, such as IP address and pages requested, for security and troubleshooting.
